Join the Arlington Republicans tonight for our March Meeting with special guest, Sandra (Sandy) J. Adams, author of Government: Servant or Master? Exposing America’s Runaway Bureaucracy and Abuse of Its Citizens.

The meeting begins at 6:30pm and will be held on the 3rd Floor of 1101 N. Highland Street in the Clarendon neighborhood. You can see more details or RSVP on Facebook here.
John Reid, former Richmond-area talk radio show host and current candidate for Lieutenant Governor, will also stop by to talk about his campaign.

A representative from former State Senator Amanda Chase‘s campaign for governor will also be in attendance to speak and collect ballot-access petition signatures.
You are encouraged to sign ballot access petitions for any and all Republican candidates.
Pursuant to Article VII, Section I of the Plan of Organization for the Republican Party of Virginia (RPV),the Arlington GOP does not endorse candidates in mutli-candidate Republican nominating contests.
The Arlington GOP will promote ANY Republican candidate’s events in these regular emails if the candidate seeks to represent Arlingtonians in an upcoming election.
Candidates and their staff are also encouraged to join the Arlington Republicans to make a stump speech or gather petition signatures at our events.
Anyone is welcome to attend out monthly meetings, and I encourage you to bring a Republican neighbor or friend.
For those interested in joining the Arlington GOP, the process to become a member starts by attending our March (or any subsequent membership) meeting. I will explain the membership process, confirm new members, and accept membership declarations at the beginning of this meeting.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: The Arlington GOP faces a critically-important fundraising deadline next Monday, and our chairman is personally investing $500 today to help us eclipse our 1st Quarter fundraising total from last year.
His $500 contribution puts the Arlington GOP 75% of the way to that goal.

Semiquincentennial of Patrick Henry’s Appeal to Virginia

On March 23, 1775 — 250 years ago yesterday — Patrick Henry delivered his famous speech to assembled delegates at the Virginia Convention held at St. John’s Church in Richmond, Virginia.
Here’s what happened:
- The Virginia Convention was a meeting of delegates from across the colony to discuss how to respond to increasing British aggression.
- Patrick Henry, a delegate from Hanover County, passionately argued in favor of mobilizing the Virginia militia for war against Great Britain.
- His speech was a call to arms, warning that reconciliation with Britain was no longer possible and that liberty must be defended with force if necessary.
Famous closing line:
It is in vain, sir, to extenuate the matter. Gentlemen may cry, Peace, Peace — but there is no peace. The war is actually begun!
The next gale that sweeps from the north will bring to our ears the clash of resounding arms! Our brethren are already in the field! Why stand we here idle? What is it that gentlemen wish? What would they have?
Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God!
I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!
His fiery words helped persuade the Convention to pass a resolution to prepare for war — a pivotal moment leading up to the American Revolution.
