Arlington GOP 2026 Election Information

Thank you for reaching out to the Arlington County Republican Committee (Arlington GOP) for information about the 2026 General Election.

Here is a flyer with information about each of the three proposed Constitutional Amendments. The Arlington GOP has endorsed a “NO VOTE” on each Constitutional Amendment:

Please find the Arlington GOP Sample Ballot as it was approved on Monday, September 28th, 2026:

Please allow me to break down the ballot for you:

In the races for United States Senate and Congress in the 8th District, your choices are clear:

✅ Bert Mizusawa for U.S. Senate (against Mark Warner)
✅ Tony Sabio for Congress (against Don Beyer)

Both Bert and Tony are listed as Republicans on the ballot. That is to say, they each appear on the ballot with an “R” by their names.

But your down-ballot races and other questions aren’t so clear. Here is a succinct explanation of each race and ballot question through the lens of the Committee’s endorsement:

In the special election for County Treasurer, the Arlington GOP decided NOT to endorse either candidate. Kim Rucker, who assumed the role earlier this year after Carla de la Pava’s retirement, is being challenged by Aasim Rawoot, a radical, pro-Palestinian leftist.

Rucker will win, as the Arlington County Democratic Committee cleared the way for her through their nomination process. It’s a bit of back-room party antics. But that’s the political reality here in Arlington, and Rawoot certainly doesn’t deserve your vote.

In the nonpartisan race for School Board, the Arlington GOP once again threw our support behind James Vell Rives IV, who is overwhelmingly qualified to serve and would act as a check against the notoriously unresponsive and insular APS.

As it stands, the Arlington School Board is a unanimous group of left-wing activists more committed to protecting their own and advancing the far-left culture war than doing right by Arlington children.

Dr. Rives brings more than 20 years of experience in adolescent and adult psychiatry, university teaching, and seven years of service on Arlington Public Schools’ School Health Advisory Board, including as co-chair.

As a longtime Arlington resident and parent of two children who have attended several Arlington public schools, he combines expertise in student mental health with firsthand knowledge of the schools and families he would serve.

Dr. Rives also has the support of John Vihstadt, former Independent member of the Arlington County Board (2014 – 2018), David Foster, former Arlington School Board member (2000 – 2007) and chair (2007), and a wide range of Democrats.

In the race for County Board, the Arlington GOP has thrown its support behind a familiar name — Audrey Clement, who has been a thorn in the side of the local political establishment for more than two decades.

While Audrey may be a perennial candidate, she is firmly committed to showing up, asking tough questions, and holding Arlington’s elected officials accountable.

In my many meetings and conversations with Audrey, I am convinced she is very knowledgeable about the issues and has a tenacity that would force accountability on a wholly unaccountable County Board. I have voted for Audrey in the past (as I’m sure you also have), and I look forward to casting my vote for her this cycle.

The Arlington GOP overwhelmingly endorsed the “NO” position on each of the three Proposed Constitutional Amendments. You can read more about them above.

And finally, the Arlington GOP has taken a principled “NO” stance on each of the five Bond Questions — on Metro and Transportation ($69.7 million), Local Parks and Recreation ($34.9 million), Community Infrastructure ($58.8 million), Utilities ($20.7 million), and Arlington Public Schools ($80 million) — totaling more than $260 million in borrowed spending.

When the County Board prioritizes left-wing pet projects over necessary expenditures, it’s time to take a stand.

I was speaking to voters at a retirement community last year, and several of them expressed distress about the bond questions each year. They said, “Some of these expenses are necessary, and I feel guilty about voting against them.”

That’s exactly what this County Board wants you to feel — guilt for holding them accountable.

That’s why they package necessary spending with excess and largesse. And it’s time for someone to call them out for it and hold them accountable.

Arlington Republicans believe in investing in long-term projects that improve our community — in schools, and transportation, and robust county services. In the BEST use of our taxpayer dollars.

But that isn’t what Arlington County leaders do.

Every single year, your property taxes go up while County leaders add new pet projects and flaunt accountability.

The only responsible vote on ANY bond issue this cycle is a “NO” vote.

Early Voting is under way now, and Election Day is Tuesday, November 3rd.

I strongly encourage you to make a plan and vote at your earliest convenience.
