Newsletter: 1,883 reasons to step up your efforts

The Arlington GOP makes select newsletter updates available on our site to inform the broader public of our activities. If you would like to receive our regular, weekly newsletter, you may subscribe here: http://eepurl.com/izWNfI

Yesterday was the first day of expanded Early Voting in Arlington — with the number of Early Voting locations doubling from TWO to FOUR.

You know what happened? 1,883 Arlington voters took advantage of the opportunity to vote early on Wednesday, up 147% over the day before.

It’s even more important that Arlington Republicans have a sustained presence at Early Voting sites to ensure voters know about our Republican candidates up and down the ballot.

I encourage you to sign up for a shift to distribute Republican Sample Ballots at any of the four Early Voting sites in Arlington here:

>>>>> Arlington GOP E/V Sample Ballot Distribution (10/16-10/20)
>>>>> Arlington GOP E/V Sample Ballot Distribution (10/21-10/27)

Arlington Democrats are on edge because Early Voting numbers are currently favoring Republicans — even with expanded Early Voting sites opening across Northern Virginia.

You and I must do the heavy lifting on the ground in Arlington to ensure our candidates get across the finish line.

Thank you.

Onward,

Matthew Hurtt, Chairman
Arlington GOP

P.S.   If you live in aa high-rise apartment and would like to drop Republican Sample Ballots to your targeted Republican neighbors over the next week or so, please reply to this email.

Republican Sign Thefts Across Arlington

Enraged Democrats are stealing and vandalizing Trump-Vance yard signs by the HUNDREDS in Arlington and across Northern Virginia. Many Arlington Republicans have sent photos and anecdotes of incidents happening all over the county (and even in Fairfax).

Honestly, I’m grateful for the sign thefts for this reason:

These enraged Democrats who are stealing and vandalizing yard signs have given Arlington Republicans an opportunity to take our message to THOUSANDS of voters in our community and to people across Virginia and the U.S.

In just the last week or so, Arlington Republicans have been featured in local and national media outlets:

These stories reach thousands of new viewers/readers, giving us an opportunity to showcase our work to new audiences. This is HUGE.

Thank you to everyone who has submitted photos, videos, or anecdotes about sign thefts. The BEST content are photos or videos of sign thieves in the act.

And here’s a tip: If you’re going out at night to put yard signs in medians/right-of-ways, PLEASE take a friend and be prepared to film. I received a salacious update earlier in the week about an incident that would certainly make national news, but the volunteer in question didn’t get it on camera.

Placing yard signs is the primary opportunity in these instances — but catching a sign thief in the act on camera is a significant secondary opportunity. Keep that in mind as you place yard signs or travel across the county.

Be ready to whip out your camera/phone. You never know when you’ll catch something like this.

Early Voting Sample Ballot Operation

Arlington Republicans have approved a Sample Ballot and are distributing it at Early Voting locations and on Election Day. Walking you through the Arlington GOP Sample Ballot, here are the contested races and ballot issues that are important to you:

Donald Trump and J.D. Vance for President & Vice President
Hung Cao for U.S. Senate
Jerry Torres for U.S. Congress (VA-08)
Juan Carlos Fierro for Arlington County Board

❌ There are NO endorsed Republican candidates for Arlington School Board. (You should consider running for local office in 2025 and beyond…)

In addition to the races for public office, there is one Constitutional Amendment and five bond issues on the ballot. The Committee voted this week to SUPPORT the Constitutional Amendment and OPPOSE all five bond issues:

✅ Constitutional Amendment, related to the tax exemption for surviving spouses of soldiers killed in action (expanding it to spouses of those killed in the line of duty)

❌ Metro & Transportation Proposal, approving general obligation bonds not to exceed $72,405,000 to finance, together with other available funds, the cost of various capital projects for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) and other transit, pedestrian, road or transportation projects

❌ Local Parks & Recreation Proposal, approving general obligation bonds not to exceed $25,770,000 to finance, together with other available funds, the cost of various capital projects for local parks & recreation

❌ Community Infrastructure Proposal, approving general obligation bonds not to exceed $76,150,000 to finance, together with other available funds, the cost of various capital projects, including but not limited to facilities maintenance capital, facilities design and construction, the Arlington Neighborhoods Program, and other County infrastructure

❌ Arlington Public Schools Proposal, approving general obligation bonds not to exceed $83,990,000 to finance, together with other available funds, the cost of various capital projects for Arlington Public Schools

❌ Utilities Proposal, approving general obligation bonds not to exceed $14,220,000 to finance, together with other available funds, the cost of designing, expanding, improving, and renovating Arlington County’s Water Pollution Control Plant and the water and sewer systems serving the County

Members of the Arlington GOP overwhelmingly supported taking principled fiscal positions on each of the proposed bond issues — just like we did during the 2023 election. fiscal positions on each of the proposed bond issues — just like we did during the 2023 election.

Sample Ballot Mailing Update

Due to federal campaign finance laws, Arlington Republicans must raise sufficient funds through a federal campaign committee in order to mail our Republican Sample Ballot to thousands of voters across Arlington.

All told, Arlington Republicans must raise an additional $7,000 through an appropriate federal campaign committee. The 8th District Republican Committee has agreed to serve as that vehicle. The good news is, we have already raised $1,050 and have another $1,500 in outstanding commitments.

Please consider chipping in $25, $50, $100, or more to help us finalize that project and get it into mailboxes soon.
