Newsletter: Donald Trump will win…

Look, I don’t make political predictions often, but:

Donald Trump will win… if you and I step up our efforts in the last eight days of this campaign.

Too much has happened since the last time I wrote you, but the race is INCREDIBLY close in Virginia — and if it’s close in Virginia, then it’s close in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, and elsewhere.

This feels similar to the final days of the Youngkin-McAuliffe race in 2021.

There is a palpable energy for Donald Trump and our Republican ticket (and a noticeable lack of energy for Kamala Harris) in Arlington that I have never seen before, and it looks like that energy is similar across the Commonwealth.

Take a look at the share of in-person early votes by likely party, as modeled by the Virginia Public Access Project (VPAP).

I’ve been following this race closely on Twitter/X, and there is a real vibe shift.

Speaking of Twitter/X, Arlington Republicans will host our first-ever Space tomorrow (Tuesday) night at 7pm Eastern. Tune in to hear more about what we’re doing in the final days of this campaign.

Back in real life (IRL), it’s even more important that Arlington Republicans have a sustained presence at Early Voting sites during the final week of Early Voting to ensure voters know about our Republican candidates up and down the ballot.

I encourage you to sign up for a shift to distribute Republican Sample Ballots this week at any of the four Early Voting sites in Arlington here:

Arlington GOP E/V Sample Ballot Distribution (10/28-11/2)

Arlington Democrats are on edge because Early Voting numbers are currently favoring Republicans — even with expanded Early Voting sites opening across Northern Virginia.

You and I must do the heavy lifting on the ground in Arlington to ensure our candidates get across the finish line.

Thank you.

Onward,

Matthew Hurtt, Chairman
Arlington GOP

P.S.   Due to federal campaign finance laws, Arlington Republicans must raise sufficient funds through a federal campaign committee in order to mail our Republican Sample Ballot (see image immediately below) to 25,000 voters across Arlington.

We’ve almost raised the money to completely cover cost of postage and production. Consider chipping in $25, $50, or $100 to help us pay the invoice today.

Even MORE Arlington Republicans have expressed interest in joining the Arlington GOP as full or affiliate members for the remainder of the term. The term of a Committee runs from spring of one even-numbered year to the spring of the next even-numbered year.

The Arlington GOP re-constituted in March 2024 and this Committee, its leadership, and its membership will remain in place until March 2026.

While the process isn’t complicated, it is multi-step. Here is the process:

  1. Declare your intent to join the Arlington GOP as a full or affiliate member at one Membership Meeting. If you’re interested in joining the Arlington GOP, you may declare your intent at our September membership meeting.

  2. Between the first meeting and either of the subsequent two membership meetings, complete this membership declaration form and pay requisite dues.

  3. Attend either of the next two membership meetings to have your membership approved. If you declare your intent to join the Arlington GOP at the next membership meeting, you must attend either of the subsequent two membership meetings to confirm your membership.

While most Arlington GOP meetings are open to the general public, you must be a full member to vote on Committee business. On several occasions throughout the two-year term of the Committee, members will vote on approval of spending proposals, policy pronouncements, and candidate nominating processes.

Only full members may take part in these matters.

Affiliate membership does not grant voting rights in the Committee; however, paying affiliate dues does grant you a seat at the table for other Arlington GOP matters.

If you have any questions about this process, please reply to this email.

Final Week of the Campaign

Sample Ballot Distribution

Dozens of Arlington Republicans have staffed Early Voting locations to distribute Republican sample ballots to voters as they go in to cast their ballots. We must increase this effort in the final week of Early Voting. Sign up for a shift here.

The easiest way to pick up sample ballots is to join us at tonight’s meeting. If you can’t join us at tonight’s meeting, you must coordinate sample ballot pick-up from me ahead of your shift. Reply to this email to coordinate pick-up.

Poll Watching during Early Voting and on Election Day

Please volunteer a half-day (or several half-days) as a Poll Watcher with the Arlington Republican Election Integrity Team. Poll Watchers observe election operations and report any unusual or unlawful activities. Your presence will have an important effect on confidence in this election.  Sign up for one or more poll watching shifts.

Election Day Yard Sign Placement

The Arlington GOP needs 5-6 volunteers to put up Juan Carlos Fierro, Jerry Torres, and Donald Trump yard signs at all 54 polling locations the night before Election Day.

Republican Sign Thefts Across Northern Virginia

Enraged Democrats are stealing and vandalizing Trump-Vance yard signs by the HUNDREDS in Arlington and across Northern Virginia. Many Northern Virginia Republicans have sent photos and anecdotes of these incidents.

The photo you see above is of a woman in Fairfax who pulled up several Trump yard signs and discarded them in her Jeep. You can see the corresponding tweet here.

I’m grateful for the sign thefts because it has helped us reach ONE MILLION people across social media in the last month.

Thank you to everyone who has submitted photos, videos, or anecdotes about sign thefts. The BEST content you can submit to us are photos or videos of sign thieves in the act.

And here’s a tip: If you’re going out at night to put yard signs in medians/right-of-ways, PLEASE take a friend and be prepared to film. I received a salacious update earlier in the week about an incident that would certainly make national news, but the volunteer in question didn’t get it on camera.

Placing yard signs is the primary opportunity in these instances — but catching a sign thief in the act on camera is a significant secondary opportunity. Keep that in mind as you place yard signs or travel across the county.

Be ready to whip out your camera/phone. You never know when you’ll catch something like this.
